Low Interest Rate Cards

Low Interest Rate credit cards come in several varieties. There are low introductory rate, low long term rate and no annual fee cards.

The best rates are on cards that you have had for a while. Most companies are willing to give you a lower rate if you have had the card for at least a year and have a good payment history. Of course, you have to ask for the lower rate! Sometimes they won't even mention it until you ask to cancel your card!

With the length of the initial low rate periods lengthening like they have recently, this means you may have a period of a low initial rate, a short time with a higher rate and then another low rate. The Lowest Rate Cards:

Pulaski Bank
5.5% Fixed APR with a $35 annual fee ($50 for Gold)
USAA
After you have been with USAA for a year or longer with a good payment history, they can give you a rate as low as Prime + 1%, 6% floor, with an annual fee or Prime + 2%, 7% floor, with no annual fee. No balance transfer or convience check fee either!
They also currently, until February 2004, have a special offer of 1.8% for existing customers.
(Note: You don't need to be affiliated with the military for their financial products even though you do for their insurance products. AND the profits they make off the financial products help them lower the cost of the insurance for their military members!)
